Collaboration and community highlight the growing connections between financial institutions and entrepreneur communities across Canada.

In mid-November, Toronto Fashion Week is in full swing, enabling the city to catch a glimpse of the sheer talent and creativity of Toronto based designers. It’s no surprise that a city so diverse is home to a rapidly expanding industry of interesting apparel brands and innovative designers.

Is Toronto Fashion Week as big as TIFF? Not yet. In order for this to happen, investments have to be made to nurture the community, grow the events and even bring TFW back to the downtown core. Recognizing the potential of Toronto’s Fashion industry, Loop Financial, a Canadian digital banking platform for businesses, decided to start making those necessary investments.

Loop partnered with Fashion Art Toronto to host a pop-up and exhibition of Toronto-based brands right at The Space on King. Brands like Pixie Mood, 437, Shagayeh Tafreshi, Bag & Bougie and other brands showcased their upcoming collections and releases to the masses. It was an exhibition that combined fashion art and brand growth.

While Loop isn’t an expert on fashion art, it knows a thing or two about setting up your brand for growth and success. “Loop is proud to host the exhibition during Toronto Fashion Week, showcasing the amazing brands based in Toronto’s growing apparel industry. We believe in supporting business growth, and this event drives exposure and recognition for these very talented emerging brands. Our mission is to empower brands by providing the financial tools they need to be successful on a global stage. We’re eager to back more brands in the community that will propel Toronto’s fashion industry to even more growth,” says Cato Pastoll, CEO of Loop.

For Toronto Fashion Week to gain the same status and pedigree of New York Fashion Week or Paris Fashion Week, it will take the entire fashion ecosystem to collaborate and back Toronto’s emerging brands. A more vibrant and resilient fashion community in Toronto will inevitably make Toronto a global fashion powerhouse. That means players like financial institutions, tech platforms and the creators of the infrastructure that power the fashion industry are getting involved. Time will tell if Toronto Fashion Week gets the spotlight it deserves, in the meantime, Toronto Fashion Week 2023 is a great opportunity to discover Canadian artists, designers and creatives who are pushing boundaries and making statements with their work.
